President Carles Puigdemont informs JxSí ministers and deputies that he will go ahead with the dissolution of Parliament and call elections due to the imminent application of Article 155 of the Constitution. This would mean dropping the declaration of independence in Parliament. Faced with opposition by a part of the independence movement in this direction and no way to guarantee the non-application of Article 155, Puigdemont decides not to call elections and delegate the decision on the response to the application of Article 155 to Parliament. His announcement was made an institutional statement at the Palau de la Generalitat. Meanwhile, in Parliament, the first day of the plenary session on the application of Article 155 is held. Following this, the Minister for Business and Knowledge, Santi Vila, submits his resignation following the failure of ‘the final attempts at dialogue.’
