The High Court of Justice of Catalonia rules that three schools must do their courses in Spanish

Breaches:

The High Court of Justice of Catalonia declares admissible three claims submitted by parents of students that requested more hours of courses in Spanish for their children. The High Court considers that the claimants have the right that the school offers in Spanish, ‘at least, one non-linguistic curricular course or subject that it is considered a core subject and analogous’ all this besides the subject of Spanish. The Court thus confirms the interim measure that had already imposed time ago. With this decision, there are now 26 schools where the justice has imposed a 25% of Spanish, via interim measures or judgments. The High Court of Justice of Catalonia considers that “the constitutional and legal guarantee of the minimum use of Spanish, as a learning language, is not sufficiently guaranteed”. In addition, it points out that an immersion system: “could have viability in a free binary education or of linguistic option”.
