2022 State Attorney General Report classifies the Catalan independentist movement as national terrorism

Breaches:

The 2022 State Attorney General Report, Álvaro García Ortiz, classifies the ‘violent’ Catalan independence movement under this subheading, alongside ETA and GRAPO. Therefore, it also includes acts under this subheading, such as 6 arrests: two arrests of activists of l’Estaca carried out by the Guardia Civil  in a demonstration considered by the Report as ‘illegal’, that commemorated the 1 October Catalan independence referendum and ‘violent and sabotage actions’. These actions include, inter alia, placing banners, blocking roads, demonstrations deemed to be ‘illegal’ by the report, public disorders, burning the flag and damaging the flag and Francoist symbols. MEPs Puigdemont, Comín and Ponsatí will submit a question to the European Commission and ERC will seek clarification in the Congress of Deputies.
