Llarena withdraws Lamela’s European Arrest Warrant against the MPs in exile but maintains arrest warrants in Spain

Breaches:

Supreme Court judge Pablo Llarena withdraws the European Arrest Warrant issued by National HIgh Court Magistrate Carmen Lamela against the president Carles Puigdemont and MPs Clara Ponsatí, Toni Comín, Lluís Puig and Meritxell Serret. However, the arrest warrants in Spain for Puigdemont and the four exiled MPs continue in force. This withdrawal of the European Arrest Warrant is considered ‘strategic’ since Llarena says that by doing so she intends to prevent Belgium from restricting the crimes charged by the Supreme Court a few days before the Catalan elections.
