The Constitutional Court elects Cándido Conde-Pumpido as its new president

Judge Cándido Conde-Pumpido, who had been prosecutor general under Zapatero, is elected president of the Constitutional Court, defeating Judge María Luisa Balaguer, also close to the PSOE, by one vote. In his speech after being elected, he states that ‘the Constitution does not allow for secession, independence or self-determination.’
