The General Council of the Judiciary finally appoints two new Constitutional Court judges

Breaches:

Although the reform on the appointment of Constitutional Court judges appointed by the General Council of the Judiciary could not be passed due to the suspension ordered by the court itself, the Board of the General Council of the Judiciary elects by unanimity two new Constitutional Court members. The agreement takes place after the progressive sector gives up on their candidate, José Manuel Bandrés, and accepts the proposal of the conservative sector of appointment the President of the Third Chamber of the Supreme Court, César Tolosa, of a conservative bias, and the former President of the Fourth Chamber María Luisa Segoviano, of a progressive bias. Once appointed, the Constitutional Court will validate the appointment along the two judges appointed in November by the Spanish government, Juan Carlos Campo, former Minister of Justice of Spain, and Laura Díez, former high rank official of the Spanish government in Pedro Sánchez administration, and that the Constitutional Court had not validated as he was waiting for the appointments of the General Council of the Judiciary.
