The judge of the National High Court, Carmen Lamela, orders provisional imprisonment for Jordi Cuixart and Jordi Sànchez

Breaches:

The Third Examining Magistrate’s Court and National High Court judge Carmen Lamela, sentences Jordi Cuixart and Jordi Sànchez to preventive detention without bail, as requested by the Prosecutor. They are admitted to Soto del Real prison the same evening. Weeks later, the National High Court’s Criminal Chamber dismisses appeals by Jordi Cuixart and Jordi Sànchez against the interlocutory order for preventive detention, and also dismisses appeals questioning Lamela’s competence. Sànchez and Cuixart submit appeals for protection (22 November and 21 December respectively) which are admitted by the Constitutional Court on 5 February.
