Eduard, a young man from Vic, accepts a sentence of three years and four months in prison for public disturbance and attacking authority. The Prosecutor’s Office was initially seeking nine years in prison, claiming in its indictment that during Tsunami Democràtic’s first protest, which took place at the Prat airport in Barcelona, Eduard sprayed Mossos d’Esquadra Mobile Brigade officers with a fire extinguisher that he then threw at them. However, the same indictment noted that the defendant was wearing a helmet covering his whole face and that there was no evidence of injuries as a result of the incident. Given that each charge individually carries a sentence of less than two years, Eduard will not have to serve a prison term, on the condition that he pay a 1,440-euro fine and not commit any criminal offences in the next four years.
