The Second Criminal Court of Manresa sentences the town mayor of Berga Montserrat Venturós (CUP) to a penalty of six months of disqualification and a three month fine for the crime of disobedience. In 2017, the Provincial Court of Barcelona had reopened the case following an appeal by the Prosecutor’s Office against the case being filed by the First Examining Magistrate’s Court of Berga. She is sentenced by the Court for having disobeyed the orders of the District Electoral Board to take down the pro-independence flags from the Town Hall during the electoral campaign for the elections to the Parliament of Catalonia on 27 September 2015 and the general elections on 20 December 2015. The mayor initially appeals the sentence but finally decides to withdraw the appeal and therefore the sentence is final.
