Hearing of Puigdemont, Comín and Ponsatí before the Committee on Legal Affairs

MEPs Carles Puigdemont, Antoni Comín and Clara Ponsatí appear before the Committee on Legal Affairs of the European Parliament requesting that their parliamentary immunity not be lifted, on the one hand, because they believe it to be a case of political persecution and, on the other hand, because they believe that thethe Supreme Court lacks the jurisdiction authorise this, in addition to a number of irregularities that have arisen during the proceedings. The president of the Commission, the MEP of Ciudadanos, Adrián Vázquez, made statements about the case that same morning despite his duty of neutrality, and the People’s Party Esteban González Pons, also a member of the Commission, made comments on issues that have been discussed at the hearing despite the fact that the proceedings are confidential.
