Puigdemont is arrested in Alghero

Breaches:

The Italian police arrest the MEP Carles Puigdemont on his arrival in Sardinia, where he had traveled to meet the authorities of the island and to attend the international gathering of Catalan culture. The arrest takes place in execution of the European Arrest Warrant issued by the investigating judge of the 1 October case Pablo Llarena, and Puigdemont is transferred to the prison of the city of Sassari. The next day, Llarena sends Puigdemont’s European Arrest Warrant to the Italian judicial authorities, indicating that it has not been suspended despite the presentation of preliminary questions before the Court of Justice of the European Union. On the afternoon of the 24th, the Court of Appeals of Sassari releases Puigdemont without precautionary measures and summons him for a hearing on 4 October. On 27 September, Puigdemont returns to Brussels.
