Quim Torra convicted of disobedience

Breaches:

The High Court of Justice of Catalonia convicts Quim Torra of a crime of disobedience and sentences him to one and a half years of disqualification from public office for not having removed a banner with a yellow ribbon from the balcony of the Palace of the Government of Catalonia when ordered to do so by the Central Electoral Board during the general election period. The court also fines him 30,000 euros. Torra will appeal his conviction before the Supreme Court, meaning that the sentence is not final and is not auomatically enforced. Nonetheless, Ciudadanos, the PP and VOX ask the Provincial Electoral Board of Barcelona to remove Torra as an MP in application of Spanish election law, which stipulates that those convicted of crimes against the public administration cannot hold elected office. The Provincial Electoral Board rejects the request, and the three parties appeal before the JEC.
