The Constitutional Court suspends proceedings on the proposal of amendment of the appointment of its members

Breaches:

The Spanish government (PSOE and Unidas-Podemos) had taken advantage of proceedings of the amendment of the Criminal Code to introduce a proposal to change the procedure to appoint the judges of the Constitutional Court appointed by the General Council of the Judiciary, for the replacements of Pedro González-Trevijano and Antonio Narváez, whose mandate expired in June, to move forward. The proposal is passed in the Congress of Deputies on 15 December, but before it could be vote in the Spanish Senate, along with the amendment of the Criminal Code, the Spanish Constitutional Court suspends the proceedings as an interim measure, after the PP submits an amparo appeal, preventing the reform to be passed. González-Trevijano and Narváez themselves take part in the decision on the suspension after the Constitutional Court decides against their motion to recuse, requested by the PSOE and Unidas Podemos, also with their participation.
