The defence of Puigdemont, Comín and Ponsatí challenges the magistrate of the Constitutional Court, Cándido Conde-Pumpido

The defence of the three exiles files for the recusal of Conde-Pumpido, magistrate of the Constitutional Court, in order that he abstain from the resolution of their cases as well as from that of the appeals for protection of the political prisoners having to do with the whole 1 October case sentenced by the Supreme Court. They consider he lacks impartiality based on a conference the magistrate gave in 2017, in which, inter alia, noted that the independentist leaders, as regards disconnection laws “had risen against the national sovereignty that resides in the Spanish People and had created a crack in the Catalan People, in defiance of the unity of the nation, when deciding the fate of the common State.”
