The High Court of Justice of Catalonia accepts the appeal of Impulso Ciudadano against the banner bearing the message ’Freedom for political prisoners and exiles’ on the façade of the Palau de la Generalitat

The Administrative Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Catalonia accepts the June 2019 appeal of the Impulso Ciudadano association filed against Quim Torra’s decision to display a banner bearing the message ‘Freedom for political prisoners and exiles’ and the yellow ribbon on the façade of the Palau de la Generalitat. The High Court of Justice of Catalonia declares it illegal to display these symbols on the government building. The banner had already been removed as a precautionary measure on 27 September 2019, and President Quim Torra’s initial refusal to remove it led to a second suit for a possible crime of disobedience.
