The judge investigating Quim Torra for not removing the banner ’free political prisoners’ opens proceedings for a possible crime of disobedience

Carlos Ramos, examining magistrate of the High Court of Justice of Catalonia, who is leading the investigation against President Quim Torra for not having removed, from the façade of the Catalan Government building, the banner with the slogan ‘free political prisoners’ and a yellow ribbon after having been ordered to do so by the court’s Administrative Chamber, following a petition from the association Impulso Ciudadano, decides to open preliminary proceedings for a possible crime of disobedience. The examining magistrate also accepts the petition of Impulso Ciudadano as a private accusation. On 23 September, Torra will appear before the magistrate and will exercise his right not to testify.
