The Plataforma per la Llengua files a report against Maria Eugènia Gay with the Direcció General de la Policía Nacional for avoiding to investigate reports on linguistic discrimination

Breaches:

The Plataforma per la Llengua alleges that when Maria Eugènia Gay (PSC) was the Spanish government delegate in Catalonia, she ignored several administrative reports filed by the association on these infractions by Civil Guard and National Police agents. Gay had the responsibility to start disciplinary proceedings and hold accountable those responsible, since there was evidence of the infractions committed by the agents. Not only did she not do that, but she also did not reply via the channel provided for that and he communicated with the association via letter. For instance, in a case of a Civil Guard agent that demanded a woman to speak in Spanish, Gay replied via letter that it had been done ‘politely and respectfully’. In the case of some National Police agents in El Prat airport, that requested that some allegations had to be done in Spanish, since they were not under the obligation to understand the ‘Catalan dialect’, she did not investigate it and replied, via letter, that the National Police acted in such way in order to ‘speed up proceedings’.
