The Supreme Court upholds the indictment of Carles Puigdemont, Toni Comín, Clara Ponsatí and Lluís Puig

Breaches:

After Llarena dismissed the appeals against the amending of the indictment issued by the investigating judge in the case against the 1 October referendum leaders in the Supreme Court, the legal representatives of the MEPs and Puig, as well as VOX filed appeals against the decision. The Supreme Court Criminal Chamber dismissed them. Therefore, Carles Puigdemont, Toni Comín and Lluís Puig are currently indicted for disobedience and embezzlement, the aggravated kind. Ponsatí and Rovira are indicted for disobedience. In the order, the Supreme Court Criminal Chamber claims that there are no deficiencies in the Spanish legal system and points out the excellent “legal treatment” given to the people in the case. Moreover, he considers that “their rights have been absolutely respected throughout the investigation”. In addition, he also considers that there’s no “objective detail in the investigating judge’s behaviour that puts into question his legal and professional acts”.
