The Prosecutor’s Office files a complaint against Josep Alay for a trip to New Caledonia

Breaches:

The Prosecutor’s Office files a complaint against the head of President Carles Puigdemont’s office, accusing him of embezzlement of public funds for acting as an observer during New Caledonia’s independence referendum. The Prosecutor’s Office also accuses Alay of using money from the office’s budget to pay tolls for two trips to Lledoners prison. Criminal proceedings are also brought against Meritxell Masó, the secretary-general of the Ministry of the Presidency, who authorised the payments. The case falls to the Examining Magistrate’s Court No. 28 of Barcelona, which summons Alay to testify on 15 July.
