Miquel Serra (ERC) had been sentenced to a year of disqualification from public office and a six-month fine for disobedience. During the April 2019 general elections, Serra did not remove a pro-independence flag from a public square or a plaque commemorating the 1 October referendum, ignoring the Provincial Electoral Board’s orders. Serra has already been convicted in another case, receiving a three-month disqualification from public office and a fine for having opened the Lo Casino cultural centre for the 1 October referendum.
