The Supreme Court dismisses the Parliament of Catalonia’s appeal against the Central Electoral Board’s decision to strip Pau Juvillà of his seat. The Court argues that an MP can be suspended even if the conviction is not final as per the General Electoral System Framework Law, and that the JEC had the authority to strip Juvillà of his seat. In 2021, the Court also dismissed the appeals against the JEC’s decision to strip Quim Torra of his seat. Torra was also convicted of disobedience, although the conviction was not final at the time. In April 2023, the Supreme Court also dismisses the appeal, lodged by Juvillà, against the withdrawal of his seat.
