Víctor Verdejo goes on trial in relation to his participation in Tsunami Democràtic’s protest at the Camp Nou stadium

Breaches:

The Prosecutor’s Office is seeking seven years in prison and a 3,900-euro fine on the charges of causing injuries, attacking authority with the aggravating factor of using a dangerous object, and public disturbance. The Mossos d’Esquadra officers that arrested him are a party in the case, after the Catalan government withdrew, and are seeking a year and a half in prison. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Verdejo threw a bottle and a rock at a Mossos d’Esquadra officer during Tsunami Democràtic’s protest at the Camp Nou stadium on 18 December 2019. Upon arrest, he allegedly punched and kicked the officers, injuring three. Verdejo reports that he suffered humiliating treatment while in detention. The trial concludes on Monday, 21 November. In December, the Provincial Court of Barcelona sentences Verdejo to three years in prison and a 10,000-euro fine for the crime of attacking authority. The defence will appeal the judgment.
