The Criminal Court no. 1 of Mataró sentences former Argentona mayor Eudald Calvo to six months of disqualification from public office and a 4,500-euro fine in relation to the organisation of the 1 October referendum

Breaches:

The judge of the Criminal Court no. 1 of Mataró convicts the former mayor, a member of CUP, on the charge of disobedience, finding that he participated ‘actively in the preparation and holding’ of the 1 October referendum. The Prosecutor’s Office was seeking 18 months of disqualification from public office and a 15,000-euro fine. Calvo appeals the conviction before the Provincial Court of Barcelona. The Electoral Board of the Area notifies him, on 24 April 2023, that does not admit him on the electoral lists of the 28 May municipal election as a candidate for mayor of Argentona with Junts due to his sentence.
