A court shelves the proceedings filed against Toni Soler, Jair Domínguez and Magí Garcia for a sketch about the Mossos d’Esquadra

Breaches:

The Seventh examining Magistrate’s Court of Sant Feliu de Llobregat closes the proceedings filed against the director and presenter of the TV3 programme ‘Està Passant’ Toni Soler and the collaborators Jair Domínguez and Magí García. Four trade union organisations of the Mossos d’Esquadra had denounced the comedians to the Prosecutor’s Office for a sketch in which the Mossos d’Esquadra were compared to dogs. The comedians were satirising the response of the police force during the protests that followed the issuing of the sentence. The Prosecutor’s Office denounced the comedians for the crime of slander to the State Security Forces and Corps. The Court files away the proceedings, arguing that the comments are protected by the right of freedom of expression and are not serious enough to constitute a crime of slander.
