Belgian justice refuses to extradite Lluís Puig

Breaches:

The tribunal of first instance of Brussels deems that the examining magistrate in the 1 October case, Pablo Llarena, lacks the jurisdiction to issue the European arrest warrant for the former minister Lluís Puig because the body of which he is a magistrate lacks the jurisdiction to try him as he does not have parliamentary immunity. Llarena had issued the European arrest warrant against Puig for the crime of embezzlement of public funds in November 2019. The Belgian Prosecutor’s Office is appealing the decision.
