Judicial vetoes of elected officialsPoliticised Constitutional CourtPrison regimeRight to a fair trial
Sànchez and Turull initiate this action in protest against the the fact that their appeals for protection lodged in connection with the 1 October referendum case have been blockedby the Constitutional Court, therefore preventing them from going to the European Court of Human Rights to question their preventive detention. With the trial now imminent, the Constitutional Court has admitted all the appeals submitted by the prisoners (about thirty) but so far none of them have been resolved even though some were filed more than a year ago. Two days later, Joaquim Forn and Josep Rull joined the hunger strike. On 20 December, all four called an end to the hunger strike after 19 days.
