The vice-president of the Catalan Government, Pere Aragonès, signs the decree calling for Catalan elections for 14 February 2021, after the expiry of the two-month deadline for the investiture of a new president in wake of the disqualification of Quim Torra from the Parliament of Catalonia. Torra was disqualified by the High Court of Justice of Catalonia and the Supreme Court for not obeying the order of the Central Electoral Board to remove a banner featuring a yellow ribbon from the Palau de la Generalitat.
