The Constitutional Court (CC) imposes coercive fines on the members of the Electoral Commission (Marc Marsal, Jordi Matas, Marta Alsina, Tània Verge and Josep Pagès) of 12,000 euros per day and on the fifteen territorial electoral commissioners (who had been appointed by the Electoral Commission) of 6,000 euros per day in order for them to resign from their positions and revoke and nullify the resolutions and agreements adopted. It also imposes a fine of 12,000 euros per day on the Secretary General of the Economy Josep Maria Jové and 6,000 euros per day on the Head of the Area of Electoral Processes and Popular Consultations, Montserrat Vidal Roca. This is the first time that the Court has used this power given to it by the 2015 reform of the law. The Constitutional Court agrees to the measure at the request of the Spanish government, which had submitted a letter on 19 September.
