During a debate in the run-up to the 10 November general elections, the president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, commits to bringing Carles Puigdemont to Spain ‘so that he can be held accountable before the courts’. The following day, Sánchez explains in an interview that he will bring Puigdemont to Spain through the work of the Prosecutor’s Office. ‘Who does the Prosecutor’s Office depend on?’ he asks the journalist. ‘On the government,’ the journalist answers. ‘Well, there you go,’ Sánchez concludes.
