The Constitutional Court annuls the Parliament of Catalonia’s decision to delegate the votes of Carles Puigdemont and Toni Comín

Breaches:

The Constitutional Court accepts for consideration the appeal for protection filed by the MPs of Ciudadanos and annuls the agreements of the Bureau of the Parliament of Catalonia of 3 April 2018 and 24 May 2018, which authorised the delegation of the votes of Carles Puigdemont and Toni Comín. The Constitutional Court argues, among other things, that the circumstance of someone voluntarily deciding to ‘evade the Spanish criminal law enforcement and who is the subject of a judicial summons and a search and arrest warrant’ is not proportionate with the degree of exception that would justify delegating the vote.
