The Council of Europe approves Resolution 2381 (2021) ’Should politicians be prosecuted for statements made in the exercise of their mandate?’

Breaches:

The resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe encourages Spain to, among other things, reform the crimes of rebellion and sedition, consider pardoning those convicted in the sentence of 1 October, stop the extradition proceedings against the exiles and also stop the prosecution of other officials that participated in the organisation of the 1 October referendum. It also impels Spain to refrain from asking Catalan politicians to renounce their views in exchange for a pardon. The following day, the Ministry of Justice pardons the prison terms of those convicted by the sentence of 1 October.
