The Court of Auditors begins its investigation into the costs of the 1 October referendum

The Prosecutor’s Office of the Court of Auditors, together with Societat Civil Catalana and Abogados Catalanes por la Constitución, file briefs before the Court of Auditors calling for an investigation into the costs incurred by the Government of Catalonia in the organisation of the 1 October referendum. On 20 December, it agrees to examine the briefs and initiate a preliminary investigation into the costs of the referendum. This task falls to auditor Margarita Mariscal de Gante Mirón, who had been the Minister of Justice in the 1996-2000PP government and was the author of the ruling on the costs of the 9 November consultation.
