The Examining Magistrate’s Court No. 13 of Barcelona, which is investigating current and former officials of the Government of Catalonia in connection with the organisation of the 1 October referendum, asks the High Court of Justice of Catalonia to take on the case against ERC MP Lluís Salvadó (secretary of the Treasury in 2017) for his role in the referendum, since he cannot be tried by the ordinary courts according to the Spanish laws on parliamentary immunity. On 7 October 2019, the High Court of Justice of Catalonia takes over the case against him for alleged crimes of embezzlement of public funds, disclosure of secrets and gross disobedience.
