The High Court of Justice of Catalonia imposes the enforcement of 25% Spanish as a precautionary measure at the Turó del Drac school in Canet de Mar

Breaches:

Some parents of the Turó del Drac school in Canet de Mar had requested from the Minister of Education a minimum of 50% Spanish be applied in the school, which was rejected. The parents filed an appeal to the High Court of Justice of Catalonia and requested at least 25% of all teaching hours be in Spanish, and the court imposes the precautionary measure. During the following months, families from the centre file appeals against the precautionary measure, which are ultimately dismissed. On 7 July 2022, Òmnium Cultural presents an appeal against the precautionary measure on behalf of thirty families from the centre asking for it to be revoked. Òmnium considers that there has been a change in the circumstances that justifies its revocation after the High Court of Justice of Catalonia transferred the parties, in the context of the case of the implementation of the sentence of 25%, should they consider it relevant, to raise a question of unconstitutionality before the Constitutional Court.
