The Prosecutor’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office present their indictments in the case against the October 1 referendum leaders

Breaches:

The Prosecutor’s Office is asking for 25 years in prison for former vice president Oriol Junqueras and 16 years for former ministers Joaquim Forn, Jordi Turull, Raül Romeva, Josep Rull and Dolors Bassa for an aggravated crime of rebellion and embezzlement. It asks for 17 years in prison for the former president of Parliament Carme Forcadell, for former president of the ANC Jordi Sànchez and for the president of Òmnium Jordi Cuixart for a crime of rebellion since it considers them ‘leaders’ of the rebellion. It is also asking for a penalty of absolute disqualification. For the former ministers Meritxell Borràs, Carles Mundó and Santi Vila, it requests a six-year prison sentence and 16 years of absolute disqualification for a crime of embezzlement and for the ex-members of the Bureau Lluís Corominas, Lluís Guinó, Anna Simó and Josep Nuet and former president of the CUP parliamentary group Mireia Boya it is asking for a one year and eight months sentence of disqualification and a 10 month fine for the crime of disobedience. The State Attorney’s Office qualifies the events as a crime of sedition rather than rebellion, for which it requests 12 years in prison for Junqueras, 11 for Forn, Turull, Romeva, Rull and Bassa, 10 for Forcadell and 8 for Cuixart and Sànchez. It also submits an indictment byVOX as popular prosecution that calls for a total of 700 years in prison for the defendants.
