The Provincial Court of Barcelona sentences a participant of the 30 January protest to one year and nine months in prison

Breaches:



The person charged was arrested in Ciutadella Park on 30 January 2018 during the demonstration held in support of the investiture of Carles Puigdemont. The Provincial Court of Barcelona has convicted him for the crime of aggravated public disturbance, given that he was carrying a hammer, and the crime of resisting arrest by law enforcement officers. The Prosecutor’s Officewas seeking to have him sentenced to three years imprisonment for public disturbance and for attacking officers of the Mossos d’Esquadra. The Catalan Government, which initially acted as prosecutor, withdrew from the trial the day before it was due to start.
