The Provincial Court of Barcelona sentences the activist Adrián Sas to 3 and a half years in prison for the crimes of attack against the Authority and injuries

Adrián is a young man from Vilafranca del Penedès arrested on 11 December 2018 for his participation in the protests of the first anniversary of the 1 October referendum in Barcelona’s Ciutadella Park. The oral hearing of the trial at the Provincial Court of Barcelona began on 17 November 2020. The Prosecutor’s Office requested a sentence of 7 years in prison, whilst the Catalan Government, acting as private prosecution on the Mossos d’Esquadra’s behalf, requested 5 and a half years in prison for the defended for the crimes of injuries, attack against the Authority and public disorders. Sas is acquitted of the latter. In addition to the three and a half years in prison, he is sentenced to pay damages that amount to 2.000 euros and a a fine of more than 720 euros. In January 2021, the defence of Adrián Sas will lodge an appeal with the High Court of Justice of Catalonia against the judgment of the Provincial Court of Barcelona.
