The Supreme Court ratifies the sentence issued by the High Court of Justice of Catalonia. Thus, the court rejects the appeal filed by Quim Torra against the sentence imposed by the High Court of Justice of Catalonia for not complying with the order of the Central Electoral Board to remove a banner featuring the yellow ribbon. On the same day, the High Court of Justice of Catalonia ordered the enforcement of the sentence and the disqualification became effective, thereby triggering the substitution of President Torra by vice-president Pere Aragonès. Torra appealed against the sentence before the Constitutional Court and demanded the suspension of the disqualification. On 6 October, the Constitutional Court accepted the appeal for protection but did not suspend the sentence.
