The Supreme Court upholds the invalidation of the University of Barcelona’s faculty manifesto on the conviction of the leaders of the 1 October referendum

Breaches:

The Supreme Court dismisses the University of Barcelona’s appeal against the High Court of Justice of Catalonia’s ruling that, in turn, upheld the ruling of a Barcelona administrative court. On 21 October 2019, the Faculty of the University of Barcelona had passed a ‘Joint manifesto of Catalan universities against the conviction of the Catalan political prisoners and the judicialisation of political life.’ The Chamber argues that public universities and university faculty ‘cannot pass resolutions that are held to be the will of the University and that refer to divisive political or ideological matters related to social and political debate and unrelated to the purpose and duties of the University’.
