The High Court of Justice of Catalonia sends Josep Maria Jové, Lluís Salvadó and Natàlia Garriga to trial in relation to the 1 October referendum

Breaches:



The former secretary-general of Catalonia’s Department of the Vice-Presidency, Economy and Finance, and the former secretary of the Treasury, both currently ERC MPs in the Parliament of Catalonia, are sent to trial by the High Court of Justice of Catalonia on the charges of prevarication, embezzlement, and disclosure of secrets in relation to the 1 October referendum. The Court also sends Natàlia Garriga to trial on the charge of disobedience. Garriga was Services Director in 2017, under the Secretary-General’s Office of the Department of the Vice-Presidency, Economy and Finance, and is currently the Minister of Culture. On 14 February, the Prosecutor’s Office accuses Jové and Salvadó of a crime of disobedience. For Jove, it will ask 7 years in prison and disqualification sentences of up to 32 years, as a fine sentence. For Salvadó, it will ask 6 years and 3 months in prison, disqualification sentences of up to 27 years and 3 moths and a fine. The Prosecutor’s Office also asks for damages. For Garriga, it will ask for a year of disqualification.
