The UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention urges Spain to release the pro-independence prisoners immediately

Breaches:

Specifically, the organisation calls for the release of Jordi Cuixart, Jordi Sànchez and Oriol Junqueras, imprisoned for the 1 October referendum, who had submitted their case in January 2018. It finds that they have been imprisoned for exercising the rights to freedom of opinion, expression, association, assembly and political participation; that the presumption of innocence has been violated; that the Supreme Court did not have the jurisdiction to judge them and that their right of defence has been violated.
