The Barcelona Provincial Court accepts the appeal presented by the editor and assistant editor of the satirical magazine El Jueves, Guillermo Martínez-Vela and Joan Ferrús, and dismisses the charge that they had committed a crime of slander against law enforcement for publishing of a satirical piece implying that National Police officers use cocaine. The court argues that the piece was a ‘caricature’ in which the magazine did not seek to vilify anyone or incite violence.
