Trial against Sane, arrested in the course of protests after the 1 October ruling, is adjourned

Breaches:

Mossos d’Esquadra arrested Sane on the day of the general strike on 18 October 2019, in the course of the blocking of AP-7 road at Sant Celoni. Sane explains to a VilaWeb interview that the arrest took place while burning some tires and she ran when the BRIMO arrived. An agent was on top of her and she told them that she was about to have her face burnt, as she had the tires in front of her. Sane recalls, despite the trauma, comments on her physical appearance and on the Catalan people. The arrest lasts for nine hours and a year later, Sane finds out that the Prosecutor’s Office asks for three years in prison for the crime of public disorders. The only evidence is the agent’s word, that say that she set fire to the barricade. The trial was set to begin on 4 May, but two days before, a court in Granollers refers the case to the Provincial Audience and the case is adjourned sine die. Trial proceedings are set to begin on 15 April 2024, but the hearing is suspended due to the impeding passing of the Amnesty Law.
