A man from the town of Sant Joan de Vilatorrada who threw a chair at a Civil Guard officer during the 1 October referendum accepts a nine-month prison sentence

The man was accused of a crime of attacking authority for having thrown a chair at a Civil Guard officer during the 1 October referendum in Sant Joan de Vilatorrada, Bages county. The policeman was hit when he entered a polling station in the town after smashing through the glass front door. The sentence was handed down by the First Criminal Court of Manresa. The man will also have to pay a 360 euro fine and the costs of the court proceedings.
