Llarena refuses to grant permission to Jordi Sànchez to attend parliament’s plenary session and be invested as president of the Government of Catalonia

Breaches:

Supreme Court judge Pablo Llarena rejects the request by Jordi Sànchez to obtain an extraordinary permit to leave prison to attend the investiture in Parliament and be able to be invested as the 131st president of the Government of Catalonia on the understanding that there is a ‘risk of criminal re-offence.’ Sànchez appeals again to the same Supreme Court. Roger Torrent adjourns sine die the investiture plenary session. President Puigdemont and the other JxCat MPs submit an appeal for protection to the Constitutional Court against Llarena’s decision because they consider it a violation of the right to political participation. The Constitutional Court accepts the appeal for consideration on 17 July.
