Miquel Serra, former mayor of Alcarràs, convicted of disobedience for his role in organising the 1 October referendum

The Third Criminal Court of Lleida sentences Miquel Serra (ERC) to three months’ disqualification for disobedience and a fine of 450 euros. In December, the Provincial Court of Lleida confirms his disqualification. After city councillor Bernat Solé, Miquel Serra is the second mayor convicted in relation to the organisation and celebration of 1 October, following the instruction of the Prosecutor’s Office of September 13, 2017, to summon to testify and investigate 712 mayors who supported the referendum.
