Universities in Catalunya under the Central Electoral Board’s watch

The rectors of several Catalan public universities, including the Open University of Catalonia (UOC), sign a manifesto condemning the Supreme Court ruling against the leaders of the 1 October referendum. On 20 November, following the complaint of a UOC associate professor and against the criteria of the Provincial Board of Barcelona, the Central Electoral Board rules that the manifesto violated ‘the principle of political neutrality’ and forces the UOC to publish this ruling on its website. The university appeals to the Supreme Court.
