The Examining Magistrate Court no. 13 refuses to take a stance on a possible jurisdiction conflict with the Examining Magistrate Court no. 18 of Barcelona

Breaches:

After the Examining Magistrate’s Court no. 18 of Barcelona opened, due to the foreign affairs expenses of the Catalan Government, an investigation against some of the officials and former officials that are already being prosecuted before court 13 for the organisation of the 1 October referendum, the former Secretary of Foreign Affairs Aleix Villatoro requests court 13 to take over both cases. The 13th Court decides that it cannot take on the case, but Villatoro appeals before the Provincial Court of Barcelona. On 14 January 2022, the Provincial Court decides that it is up to the Examining Magistrate’s Court no. 13 to decide whether to take on the case of the Examining Magistrate’s Court no. 18. On May 2022, the judge, Alejandra Gil, refuses to take on proceedings and the decision is once again appealed.
