The Legal Affairs Committee endorses the lifting of the immunity of Puigdemont, Comín and Ponsatí

Breaches:

In a tighter vote than expected (15 votes in favour, 8 against and 2 abstentions), the Legal Affairs Committee of the European Parliament recommends to the plenary that the immunity of Carles Puigdemont, Antoni Comín and Clara Ponsatí be lifted so that the European Arrest Warrant issued by the Supreme Court can be executed. The report on Puigdemont’s immunity had been leaked on 18 February. The report on Ponsatí’s immunity indicates that the Supreme Court has requested their extradition for the crimes of sedition and embezzlement, even though the European Arrest Warrant against her only refers to sedition. Parliament proceeds to publish a ‘corrected version’ of this the next day.
