The Ninth Examining Magistrate’s Court of Barcelona opens an investigation into Laura Borràs for splitting contracts when she was director of the Institut de les Lletres Catalanes

Breaches:

The Ninth Examining Magistrate’s Court of Barcelona opens the investigation, following the proceedings carried out until then by the Sixth Examining Magistrate’s Court of Manresa against Isaías Herrero, the beneficiary of the contracts, for alleged crimes of drug trafficking, counterfeiting currency and document forgery. On 9 July, 2019, Laura Borràs announces that she submitted a letter to the Ninth Examining Magistrate’s Court of Barcelona requesting the proceedings be nullified. In the letter, she states that the court is not competent for the investigation in question given Spanish laws on parliamentary immunity. In addition, she considers that this is a prospective investigation and that the attestations reiterate that Borràs is pro-independence.
